Run Bitcoin full nodes, Monero remote nodes, Ethereum execution and consensus clients, and related chain software on KVM VPS or bare metal — with crypto billing and European jurisdiction options.
Node operators need always-on compute, predictable disk I/O, and a payment path that does not force card KYC for every invoice. TheOnionHost provides SSD VPS and dedicated servers sized for blockchain workloads, billed in Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, USDT, and Litecoin. Shared hosting is for websites only — nodes require root and isolated resources.
This page is a practical sizing and policy guide for common Bitcoin, Monero, and Ethereum deployments. Chain requirements change over time; treat the table below as a starting point and verify current client docs before you order disk capacity.
Mining farms, GPU farms, and abuse infrastructure are out of scope. If you need a broader crypto/Web3 overview (wallets, RPC, privacy apps), see the Crypto & Web3 hub.
Minimum RAM and disk are approximate for a usable sync. Recommended product maps to current VPS tiers (Alpha / Proxima / Ultra / Infinity) or entry dedicated when chain state exceeds VPS NVMe sizes.
| Workload | Min RAM | Disk (approx.) | Recommend |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bitcoin pruned node | 2–4 GB | ~50–100 GB+ | VPS Ultra or higher |
| Bitcoin full / archival | 4–8 GB+ | ~600 GB+ growing | Dedicated (entry+) |
| Monero remote / RPC node | 2–4 GB | ~150 GB+ (pruned lower) | VPS Ultra / Infinity; large state → Dedicated |
| Monero heavy / public traffic | 4–8 GB+ | 200 GB+ NVMe preferred | Dedicated |
| ETH execution (light / test) | 8 GB+ | Varies widely by client | VPS Infinity for light tests only |
| ETH execution + consensus / validator | 16 GB+ typical | Large NVMe (TB-class for many clients) | Dedicated |
| Light wallet backend / small daemon | 1–2 GB | 20–60 GB | VPS Alpha or Proxima |
VPS Alpha (1 GB / 20 GB), Proxima (2 GB / 30 GB), Ultra (4 GB / 60 GB), and Infinity (8 GB / 120 GB) are NVMe KVM plans. Full Bitcoin and most Ethereum mainnet states outgrow those disks — order dedicated when in doubt.
Peer-to-peer ports and public RPC endpoints attract noise as well as legitimate traffic. Every VPS and dedicated plan includes 500Gbps DDoS mitigation (L3/L4/L7) at no add-on fee. You still control firewall rules, bind addresses, and rate limits at the OS level — we do not replace application hardening.
Checkout accepts major cryptocurrencies. Standard self-serve orders require an email address only — no government ID upload for ordinary VPS or dedicated purchases. Provisioning is typically automatic within minutes after payment confirmation. Recurring invoices can stay on the same crypto rails.
Permitted blockchain node operation does not mean unrestricted activity. Under our AUP, phishing, malware distribution, botnet C2, DDoS-for-hire, CSAM, and other locally unlawful abuse are prohibited and will be acted on. Running a full node or RPC service for your own or customers’ legitimate use is fine; using the host as attack infrastructure is not.
Foreign copyright-style notices are evaluated under the law of the server jurisdiction (Bulgaria, Ukraine, Netherlands for selected dedicated). See our jurisdiction & notice policy for how informational notices are handled versus local court orders.
